basik.005 details
The basik.005 rollerball pen shows off the first aesthetic changes to the basik with nod to another everyday carry stalwart, the pocket flashlight. Our shop is full of EDC items, ranging from pocket knives to worry stones, there’s a little bit of everything banging around. Josh decided to look at some of the EDC items that aren’t pens to draw inspiration from for this design, and immediately he landed on some similarities with several of the pocket flashlights we have. Many of these flashlights lack the soft curves or even chamfers we use on our pens, instead they features flat, sometimes sharp, edges. They also have rather aggressive grips that features tight, machined rings with sharper-than-normal peaks or knurling. Obviously, you don’t want to drop your flashlight in a storm or other wet environments. For that reason, he combined some of these features on this pen. The grip area features tight rings with defined peaks that “grip” back just a bit without being painful. For the pen tip, he decided on a flat taper rather than a curved tip. The upper body features a flat for the clip to lay against but also features some detail lines that are similar to aesthetics on the lens area of many metal pocket flashlights. The basik.005 is an amalgam of styles, it’s probably our most “different” design in quite some time. Virtually failure-free and requiring minimal maintenance, our line of basik rollerballs are true everyday carry pens.
